Incorporating fabrics into your jewelry designs allows for endless options. Cynthia layered burlap ribbon, lace, and other fabrics to create a beautiful focal piece for this necklace. She accented her fiber art creation with Czech glass beads and TOHO seed beads. We especially love how the Forget-Me-Not flower beads are showcased with the fabric flowers and used as spacers in the beaded strand. Find your favorite fabric and beads to start creating something special for yourself.
We used a piece of white burlap-like ribbon for the background of our focal piece. Our piece is 2 1/2 inches wide and 3 inches high. We frayed the edges and used white KO thread to stitch around the frayed edges to make sure they wouldn't fray more. We suggest also adding a clear adhesive to these stitches to prevent fraying.

Repeat this pattern five times, then add five English cut beads, and 22 red seed beads. Make a mirror image of the bead pattern on the other side of the seed beads. Add a crimp tube to the end of the strand, followed by a copper jump ring attached to the other half of the clasp. Go back through the crimp tube, crimp in place, and hide with a crimp cover.
Nice choice! All or most of the products needed for this project are shown below with quantities. Sometimes we sell out of components and aren’t able to order more from the manufacturer (we know, it is very disappointing to us, too). Use the opportunity to mix up the design and make it yours by substituting similar products or altering the entire color scheme—it’s up to you!
