These 3D Beaded SuperDuo Turkeys are so cute for Thanksgiving. Use them in earrings, or create them for pendants, wine charms, and more.
Add an 8mm round bead to a 3-foot length of thread. Bring your thread back through the other end of the stringing hole to form a loop around one side of the bead, leaving a 4-6 inch tail. Pull tight so the thread is up against one side of the bead. Repeat so there are two strands of thread.
Bring your thread back through the other end of the stringing hole to form a loop around the other side of the bead. Repeat so there are two strands. You should now have two strands of thread on each side of the bead.
Add two 11/0 seed beads to the thread. Bring them down next to the bead. Bring your needle under the two threads around your bead and pull tight so that the seed beads are now against the 8mm round. Bring your needle up through the second seed bead added and pull. Your seed beads should now start to snug up against the 8mm round, forming a frame. Pick up one seed bead and bring your needle back through the two thread strands around the bead. Bring the needle back up through the bead. This is much like the brick stitch technique for adding beads.

Continue the brick stitch frame around the the entirety of the 8mm bead. After you add your last seed bead, bring the needle back down through the first bead you added to the frame and back up through the last bead added.
Add a dark red SuperDuo to the thread. Then, bring your thread through the second hole of the same SuperDuo.
Add an orange SuperDuo, a seed bead, a dark red SuperDuo, and a seed bead to the thread. Repeat until you have 3 orange SuperDuos and stop at the 3rd orange SuperDuo.
Add a dark red SuperDuo to the thread. Then, go through the second hole of the same SuperDuo.
Adjust the seed beads and SuperDuos on your mat so they frame the top half of your brick stitch frame. Then, bring your needle through the seed bead in the brick stitch frame that corresponds the closest to your last SuperDuo. For our example, it's the 9th seed bead away from the start of the row.
Bring your needle back up through the next seed bead over to the inside of the SuperDuo and seed bead row.
With your needle coming up from the seed bead in the brick stitch frame, go through the bottom stringing hole of the first orange SuperDuo in the row.
Bring your needle under the beads in the SuperDuo and seed bead row. Then, let your needle catch under the thread bridge of the brick stitch frame, as shown in the image. Pull tight to start cinching the SuperDuo and seed bead row to the brick stitch frame. Go through the next seed bead and SuperDuo in the row. Repeat until you are coming out of the last orange SuperDuo in the row.
Go through the top stringing hole of the last dark red SuperDuo in the row.
Add a seed bead to your thread and a dark red SuperDuo. Go through the top hole of the next orange SuperDuo in the previous row.
Add a pale gold SuperDuo to the thread and go through the top hole of the next dark red SuperDuo in the previous row. Add a brassy gold SuperDuo to the thread and go through the top hole of the next orange SuperDuo in the previous row.
Repeat the previous step so that your thread is coming out of the last orange SuperDuo in the previous row.
Add a dark red SuperDuo and a seed bead to the thread and go through the top hole of the dark red SuperDuo in the previous row, going through the hole from the outside of the bead, as shown in the image.
Go back through the bottom holes of the SuperDuos and the seed beads in the first row to reinforce the row. Then go back up through the seed bead at the end of the row to step up and go back through the stringing holes of the next row up to reinforce.
Now that you've reinforced the rows, your needle should be coming out of the bottom SuperDuo of the last dark red SuperDuo in the last row added.
Add a seed bead to the thread and go up through the second hole of the same dark red SuperDuo.
Add a dark red seed bead and go through the top stringing hole of the next SuperDuo in the previous row.
Add an orange SuperDuo to the thread and go through the top stringing hole of the next SuperDuo in the previous row.
Repeat steps 20 and 21.
Add a seed bead to the thread and go back down through the bottom stringing hole of the same Superduo.
Go back through the rows to reinforce and to weave your way up to the center dark red SuperDuo bead on the top row. When your thread is coming out of the bottom hole of this bead, bring your needle through the top hole of the same bead. Add 12 seed beads to the thread. Bring your needle bak around through the same stringing hole from the opposite direction, forming a loop. Pull your loop tight and go back through the seed beads to reinforce. Position your needle so that it is coming out of the top hole of the SuperDuo and then go back down through the bottom hole.
Weave through the beads until your needle is going through the seed bead at the center of your brick stitch frame, as pictured.
Add your 6mm round and a seed bead to the thread.
Bring your thread back down through the 6mm round. Then, go back up through the seed bead on your brick stitch frame. Reinforce by going back through these beads if necessary.
Weave your thread so that it is coming out of a seed bead at the bottom of your brick stitch frame. Add a light gold SuperDuo to the thread.
Bring your thread up through the next seed bead over in the frame and pull tight. Go back through the beads to reinforce and then repeat on the other side of the bottom to attach the other foot.
Weave the end of your thread back into the beads, tie off, and trim. Repeat for the tail.
Add a fire-polished bead to an eye pin and make a simple loop at the top of the bead.
Attach the beaded link to the seed bead loop at the top of your turkey using a jump ring.
Open the loop at the top of the beaded link and attach the gold-filled hoop earring. Close the loop.
Repeat steps 1-33 to make the other earring.
Nice choice! All or most of the products needed for this project are shown below with quantities. Sometimes we sell out of components and aren’t able to order more from the manufacturer (we know, it is very disappointing to us, too). Use the opportunity to mix up the design and make it yours by substituting similar products or altering the entire color scheme—it’s up to you!
