For this bracelet, I incorporated Half Tila Beads into a flat herringbone pattern.
The Ancient Roman Empire was known for opulence, art and power. Emperors and fine ladies would have surely adorned themselves with jewelry like this bracelet. Seed beads in rich purple and gold colors add a striking balance to the enchanting Miyuki Half Tila beads at the center of this herringbone design. Make this bracelet for yourself and add regal Roman style to your collection of treasures
Create a single row of ladder stitch for the first row of the bracelet. You can see how this is done in Image 1 (beads 1A through 1I) in the Riches of Rome Diagram PDF. Here is the order of beads you should use in the row:
One TOHO 8/0 galvanized matte starlight bead round (1A)
One TOHO 8/0 metallic plum AB hex bead (1B). Repeat once more (1C).
One Miyuki 8/0 Duracoat galvanized eggplant seed bead (1D)
One Miyuki 5x2.3mm metallic matte rainbow antique bronze Half Tila bead (1E. This bead will be treated as two individual seed beads would be when stitching your bracelet together.)
One eggplant Miyuki seed bead (1F)
One metallic plum hex bead (1G). Repeat once more (1H).
Continue with the basic herringbone stitch. Refer to Image 2 in the PDF above to follow our pattern. For the first row of herringbone, add one matte starlight seed bead (2A) and one plum hex bead (2B). Then, add one plum hex bead (2C) and one eggplant seed bead (2D). Then add one Half Tila (2E). Thread up through one hole of the Half Tila (as you would to add the first bead in a herringbone column) and then down the other hole of the Half Tila (as you would for the second bead in a column). Mirror the bead pattern on the other side of the Half Tila. Remember that on the edge of each row as you turn, you will add a Miyuki 1.8mm transparent luster faded rose/gold square cut bead to the thread. This will add a bead to every other row. You will be adding additional beads in between later.
On the edge of your bracelet, there will be gaps between the square cut beads you added. Fill in those gaps with Miyuki metallic rainbow matte rose/green square cut Delicas by weaving them in the same direction, as shown in Image 3 of the PDF diagram above. Start a new thread and position your needle so that it is exiting out of a bead on the outside edge. Wrap your thread around the existing thread. Add a bead to your thread to fill in the gap between the existing square cut beads, then bring your needle through the next bead on the outside edge of the weave. Repeat until all gaps are filled.
Position your thread so that it is exiting out of the Half Tila bead at the end of your bracelet. Add a rose/gold square cut bead to your thread, followed by the 16x8mm double spike bead in Crystal Lilac Shadow and another square cut bead. Bring your thread through the other stringing hole of the spike bead. Add another square cut bead to the thread, then bring your needle down through the next stringing hole in the Half Tila bead. Secure your thread.
On the other end of your bracelet, position your thread so that it is exiting out of the Half Tila bead. Add 17 square cut beads to the thread in alternating rose/gold and matte rose/green colors. Bring your needle down through the other hole of the Half Tila. Make sure your loop fits around the spike bead, then reinforce the loop by going back through it several times. Secure and trim your thread.
