Vintage beads create an inspiring start for this necklace. Becky combined purple and light blue vintage beads in this design. Because these beads have a pearlescent theme, she went with a mermaid theme completed perfectly with the Green Girl Studios pendant at the center. Step-by-Step Instructions Expand All Steps

Cut a length of jewelry wire approximately 12 inches long. Slide a sterling silver 2x2mm crimp tube onto one end, followed by the last link of a 4 1/2-inch length of antique silver-plated small oval link chain. Bring the wire back through the crimp tube and crimp in place.

Add the following bead pattern to the wire:

Make a mirror image of the bead pattern on the other side of the three light blue rounds.

Slide a crimp tube onto the end of the wire, followed by a 4 1/2-inch length of chain. Bring the wire back through the crimp tube and crimp in place.

Attach two linked sterling silver 6.10mm open jump rings to the Green Girl Studios pewter mermaid clamshell charm. Attach this pendant to the center of your necklace using two more jump rings (these jump rings are not linked, but one to each side of the center pearl).

Slide a purple round bead onto a sterling silver 1.0-inch ball-end 24 gauge head pin and attach it to one of the jump rings at the top of your pendant by making a wrapped loop. Repeat to make three other dangles. We made a dangle featuring a single light blue round bead, a dangle with a purple round, a light blue round, and a purple round, and a third dangle with a light blue round, a Demi Round, and a light blue round.

Attach each half of the TierraCast antique pewter heirloom toggle set to each end of the necklace using a jump ring for each.

Cut a hand-dyed silk kaleidoscope colors with grey edges ribbon in half. Thread one ribbon in and out of the larger chain links on one side of your necklace. Knot the ribbon around each end of chain and trim the ends. Add a little adhesive to secure the knot if desired, or stitch it in place. Repeat for the other side of the necklace.

Slide a purple round onto a head pin and attach to the first small link of the chain on one side of your necklace by making a wrapped loop. Repeat for each small link in the chain, alternating between purple and light blue beads for your dangle. Repeat on the other side of the necklace.
