Make bookmarks that were featured in our Artbeads Boot Camp Classes at Bead Fest!
Note: Some of the beads featured in the original project are no longer available. We have listed alternative items that we also love. You can also easily personalize these projects with your favorite colors, charms, and beads. For the ribbon bookmark, measure your ribbon with the book you want to use it with, making sure the ends poke out of the ends of the book. Trim if necessary.
Add a ribbon end to one end of the ribbon using a little bit of glue if desired and then use chain nose pliers to gently squeeze the ribbon end closed around the ribbon. Repeat on the other end of the ribbon. Allow glue to dry.
Make dangles using head pins and your favorite beads. You can finish these dangles with either simple loops or wrapped loops.
Attach 1-3 dangles to each end of the ribbon using a jump ring.
For the shepherd hook bookmark, make beaded links with your favorite beads and finish with simple loops. Attach them in a chain. Make a dangle on a head pin to attach to the end of the chain. Attach your beaded chain to the loop on the bookmark using a jump ring.
For the beaded bookmark, cut a length of jewelry wire to size for a book, ensuring the ends will poke out of the ends of the book. Make sure to add 3-4 inches of length for crimping.
Add a crimp tube and a jump ring to one end of the wire. Bring the wire back through the crimp tube and crimp in place.
Add seed beads to the jewelry wire, until you have the desired length for a bookmark. Add a crimp tube to the end of the wire, followed by a jump ring. Bring the wire back through the crimp tube and crimp in place.
Create dangles for the ends of your bookmark using head pins and your favorite beads and finish with wrapped loops. Attach to the jump rings, or use extra jump rings to add the dangles.
Note: Please make sure to double check our list of components with what's actually in stock on the supplies tab.
Nice choice! All or most of the products needed for this project are shown below with quantities. Sometimes we sell out of components and aren’t able to order more from the manufacturer (we know, it is very disappointing to us, too). Use the opportunity to mix up the design and make it yours by substituting similar products or altering the entire color scheme—it’s up to you!
