These earrings show off how beautifully TOHO Aiko precision cylinder seed beads line up in stitches like the square stitch.
Thread a comfortable length of thread onto a beading needle and add a stopper bead. Add a lavender Aiko seed bead, two cantaloupe seed beads, a sweet blush seed bead, two cantaloupe seed beads, and a lavender seed bead. Make sure to leave a tail long enough to attach your earring to once you've made your earring.
Create a second row of beads using the square stitch. Follow the color pattern in our PDF Diagram. Continue adding rows to the square stitch until you come to the first decreased row.
To add the first decreased row, position your thread so that it is coming out of the second bead in the last full row. Then, continue the square stitch as normal. Repeat for each of the decreased rows. Secure and trim your working thread.
Using your tail, position your thread so that it is coming out of the center sweet blush bead in the first row. Bring your needle through the loop of the leverback earring and go back around through the same seed bead to loop the earwire to the top of your square stitch. Loop back through the seed bead and the earwire several times to reinforce. Then, secure and trim your tail thread.
Repeat these steps to make the other earring.
Nice choice! All or most of the products needed for this project are shown below with quantities. Sometimes we sell out of components and aren’t able to order more from the manufacturer (we know, it is very disappointing to us, too). Use the opportunity to mix up the design and make it yours by substituting similar products or altering the entire color scheme—it’s up to you!
