SuperDuo Beads and GemDuo Beads combine for a look inspired by 4th of July Fireworks!
Add a red SuperDuo, a white SuperDuo, and a blue SuperDuo to an armspan’s length of thread. Repeat this pattern twice for a total of 9 beads. Bring the thread back around through the same stringing hole of all of the beads to form a circle or loop, making sure to leave a tail approximately 6 inches long. Tie the tail thread to the working thread to tighten the loop.
Jump up to the second stringing hole of the adjacent SuperDuo bead in the loop. Then, add another SuperDuo to the thread. If you are coming out of a red SuperDuo, add a red SuperDuo. You want to pick up a SuperDuo that’s the same color as the one you are coming out of. Then, go through the second stringing hole of the next SuperDuo over in the loop. Repeat until you’ve added SuperDuos between each one in the first loop.
Go through the first stringing hole of the first SuperDuo you added to the second loop. Then, jump up to the second stringing hole.
Add a seed bead, a SuperDuo, and a seed bead to the thread. Since we have reversed the direction of weaving, we are going to pick up the color SuperDuo that matches the SuperDuo we’ll be going through next. If you’re coming out of a red SuperDuo and a blue SuperDuo is next in the loop, add a blue SuperDuo. Once you’ve added the correct color SuperDuo and your seed beads, go through the next SuperDuo over in the second loop. Repeat until you’ve added SuperDuos and seed beads between each SuperDuo in the second loop.
Go through the first seed bead and the first stringing hole of the first SuperDuo added to this loop. Then, jump up to the second stringing hole of the same SuperDuo.
Add a seed bead, a GemDuo, and a seed bead to the thread. Make sure the domed side of the GemDuo is facing up. Go through the next SuperDuo over in the previous loop. Repeat until you’ve added GemDuos and seed beads between each SuperDuo in the previous loop.
Go through the first seed bead and the first stringing hole of the first GemDuo added to this loop.
Add three seed beads and go through the first stringing hole of the next GemDuo over in the loop. Repeat until you’ve added seed beads between each GemDuo in the loop.
Jump up to the second stringing hole of the current GemDuo you are coming out of.
Add four seed beads to the thread and loop through the same stringing hole. Add two seed beads and go through the middle or second seed bead in the adjacent section of three seed beads between GemDuos from the previous loop. Add two more seed beads and go up through the second stringing hole of the next GemDuo over. Repeat this step until you’ve added seed beads between and around each GemDuo.
Lay your piece flat on the work surface and make sure everything is laying smoothly. You may need to flatten it out with your fingers and the third loop of SuperDuos will dome up a bit, which will make the center SuperDuos pop!
Go back through the outside edge of seed beads around the GemDuos to reinforce and to give the seed beads a smoother-looking shape.
Add a closed jump ring to the thread between the seed beads at the point of one of the GemDuos. Loop the thread around the jump ring several times to secure. Then secure and trim your tail and working thread.
Attach an earwire to the jump ring.
Repeat these steps to make the other earring.
Nice choice! All or most of the products needed for this project are shown below with quantities. Sometimes we sell out of components and aren’t able to order more from the manufacturer (we know, it is very disappointing to us, too). Use the opportunity to mix up the design and make it yours by substituting similar products or altering the entire color scheme—it’s up to you!
