Golem Design Studio cabochons are beautiful stoneware focal pieces for your jewelry designs. A fun way to showcase them is to bead embroider around them. Cynthia found the perfect TOHO seed beads to match the cabochon at the center of her necklace. She used a few different bead embroidery techniques for an intricate look.

Step-by-Step Instructions Expand All Steps

Glue the Golem Design Studio stoneware dark dragonfly 24mm cabochon onto a piece of bead backing and allow to dry. Create a row of TOHO 11/0 bead rounds in matte Cassiopeia around the cabochon using the two-seed-bead backstitch.

Trim the bead backing and then glue a piece of felt to the back. Create a beaded edge with the brick stitch technique using more TOHO seed beads.

Finish the trim with a picot edge. For each stitch in the picot edge, you will use three TOHO seed beads.

Stitch a Vintaj natural brass 5mm 18 gauge jump ring on the back of the focal, to the side of the top. Stitch another jump ring across from it, on the other side of the back. You will attach the chain for your necklace to these jump rings.

Attach a 12-inch length of 4.5mm antique brass flat O-link chain to one of the jump rings using another jump ring. Attach another 12-inch length of chain to the other jump ring using another jump ring.

Attach each half of the antique vintage brass-plated pewter round toggle clasp to each end of the necklace using a jump ring for each.
