Making your own hoops for earrings allows you the flexibility to add beads and control the shape of the hoop.
Create your own earring shapes with Artbeads Designer Wire These earrings feature frames made with our beautiful wire. When decorated with TierraCast charms and spacers, they really stand out. You can see the techniques Tracy used to make these earrings in this Artbeads Cafe episode. Our instructions are for the tree earrings.
Using a six-inch piece of Silver 20 gauge Artbeads Designer Wire, bend one end up about 2 1/2 inches. Please note that you can either use individual spools of wire and cut what you need or you can use the wire from our 20 gauge Spring Artbeads Designer Wire Blend instead to make the other two pairs of earrings. Try other Artbeads Designer Wire Blends to inspire all new color palettes for the same design.
String a sterling silver 2 x 2mm crimp tube onto the wire, right up to the bend, then squeeze it gently with the front notch of crimping pliers until it stays in place on the wire.
Add the TierraCast gold 4mm hex heishi spacer to the wire, followed by a Tierracast 3mm silver-plated pewter plain heishi spacer, a Czech glass 6x9mm turquoise and aqua mixed with Picasso full coat finish roundel bead, a silver spacer, and a gold spacer. Slide on the TierraCast antique silver-plated pewter tree charm. Make a mirror image of the bead pattern on the other side of the charm.
String a crimp bead onto the wire and squeeze in place as you did with the first crimp, making sure there's a little wiggle room so the charm can move and swing nicely.
Bend the end of the wire up. Gently cross the ends of the wires, forming an even triangle about one inch tall. Mark where the wires cross with a permanent marker.
Flip the earring over so you're working on the back side. Then, bend one end over sideways at the mark and bend the other straight up. Wrap the sideways end once around the straight end and trim on the back. Bend the straight end over 90 degrees just above the wrap, then make a wrapped loop, finishing in the back. Trim excess wire and tuck ends of the wrap in for a cleaner look.
Use nylon jaw pliers to straighten and adjust the wire. Open the loop of the 925/10 silver-filled earwire with 3mm ball and add it to the loop at the top of the triangle. Close the loop.
Repeat steps one through seven to make the other earring. You can use these techniques to also make the Om charm earrings and the drop-shaped earrings.

Nice choice! All or most of the products needed for this project are shown
below with quantities. Sometimes we sell out of components and aren’t able to order more from
the manufacturer (we know, it is very disappointing to us, too). Use the opportunity to mix up
the design and make it yours by substituting similar products or altering the entire color
scheme—it’s up to you!
