In Ancient Egyptian culture, Scarabs were closely related to the sunrise. This necklace features an intricate winged scarab holding a sun-like disc as the focal, while Czech glass, Miyuki cotton pearls, and Dakota Stones gemstone beads set the backdrop for a sultry sunrise color palette.

Step-by-Step Instructions Expand All Steps

Glue the small brass Egyptian scarab embellishment with patina on top of the Kabela Design antique brass trance filigree and allow to dry. Attach the brass spur chandelier pendant to the bottom of this focal using a TierraCast medium oval brass oxide pewter open jump ring. Attach a TierraCast brass oxide brass open round jump ring to the top of the focal.

Cut a length of jewelry wire approximately 23 inches long. Slide a TierraCast 2x2mm brass oxide brass crimp tube onto the end, followed by a round jump ring attached to half of the TierraCast brass oxide pewter renaissance toggle clasp set. Bring the wire back through the crimp tube and crimp in place.

Add the following bead pattern to the wire:

One Czech glass 3mm matte oxidized bronze clay English cut round bead
Three Dakota Stones matte polychrome jasper 8mm round beads
One English cut bead
One Miyuki 8mm bronze round cotton pearl bead

Repeat this pattern six times and then slide on your focal. Make a mirror image of the bead pattern on the other side of the focal. Slide a crimp tube onto the wire, followed by a round jump ring attached to the other half of the toggle clasp. Bring the wire back through the crimp tube and crimp in place.

Cut a length of jewelry wire approximately 20 inches long. Slide a crimp tube onto the wire, followed by the round jump ring on one end of your first beaded strand. Bring the wire back through the crimp tube and crimp in place.

Add a random mix of 4mm Czech glass round beads in opaque brown luster mix and English cut beads. Cynthia alternated 5-10 round beads with one English cut bead for her strand, for a strand that features about 16 inches of beads. Slide a crimp tube onto the end of the strand once you are satisfied, and then bring your wire through the round jump ring attached to the other end of your first beaded strand. Bring your wire back through the crimp tube and crimp in place.
