Seed Bead Tassel Earrings with TierraCast Eastern Path Asian Coins
Approximate Size5 Inches
TierraCast cones make great toppers for seed bead tassels!
TierraCast's Eastern Path collection includes beautiful cones that work in many different ways. They make wonderful finishing touches for the seed bead tassels in these earrings. They are paired with Asian coin pendants, also from the Eastern Path collection. Learn more about this collection and see how these earrings were made in this Artbeads Cafe episode.
Add a stopper bead to a 12-inch length of FireLine. String on about about 3 1/2 inches of Miyuki 11/0 round seed beads in opaque red luster. Position these beads at the center of your thread. Then, add a Czech glass 2mm matte metallic antique gold round bead to the thread. Bring your thread back up through the seed beads, skipping the Czech glass beads. Repeat about 10 times, until you have enough seed bead dangles to fill a cone.
Gather all of your seed bead strands and make sure any slack is removed. Tie the ends of all of your seed bead strands together in an overhand knot, close to the top of the beads so that thread doesn't show when you insert your tassel into the cone. Add a drop of superglue to the knot to secure. Trim the threads close to the top of the knot.
Cut a length of 22 gauge Gold Artbeads Designer Wire approximately four inches long. Slide one end of the wire under and through the knot and bring it up back around the other end of the wire. Coil the wire around the knot and the other end of the wire a few times. Trim your coiled wire and then slide the TierraCast brass oxide pewter flowering cone onto the wire, over the coil. Attach the loop of the TierraCast brass oxide pewter Asian coin pendant to the wire at the top of the cone by making a wrapped loop.
Cut a length of Designer Wire approximately three inches long. Slide the wire through the center of the Asian coin and fold in half so the ends are coming up and out to the top on each side of the coin. Wrap one end around the coin again and make a coil around the other wire at the top of the coin. Trim the coil and then make a wrapped loop with the other end of the wire, continuing the wrap to meet the coil from the other wire.
Open the loop of a TierraCast brass niobium 20 gauge regular loop earwire and attach it to the wrapped loop at the top of your earring. Close the loop.

Nice choice! All or most of the products needed for this project are shown
below with quantities. Sometimes we sell out of components and aren’t able to order more from
the manufacturer (we know, it is very disappointing to us, too). Use the opportunity to mix up
the design and make it yours by substituting similar products or altering the entire color
scheme—it’s up to you!
