Cut out a 2-inch by 3-inch rectangular piece of bead backing. Glue the 18x25mm resin flowers cameo in black and ivory to the center of the bead backing using E6000 glue. Allow to dry.

To start your beaded border, thread a needle and tie a knot. Poke the needle through the bead backing close to the edge of the cameo, pulling the knot tight against the back of the design. String four opaque pearl pastel yellow delicas onto the thread and insert your needle back down through the bead backing close to the edge of the cameo, creating a line of delicas against the cameo. Bring your needle up through the middle of the four delicas, so that two delicas are on each side. Slip your needle through two of the delicas a second time.

String two more delicas onto the thread and insert your needle down through the bead backing, lining the beads against the cameo. Bring your needle up through the bead backing behind the two delicas, and then slip your needle through the two delicas a second time, creating a backstitch. Repeat this backstitch until you have completely outlined the cameo with delicas. Tie off your thread.

Two-Seed-Bead Backstitch Tutorial

Use the same technique described in steps two and three to create the second border of TOHO™ 11/0 Ceylon smoke round beads.

Cut off the extra bead backing around the pendant so that it is flush with the beaded boarder that you just created. Place the pendant facedown. Attach the silver-plated pewter 3-strand multi-strand endpiece to the top of the pendant using E6000 glue. Let dry. Glue the bead backing on the back of the pendant to a 2-inch by 3-inch piece of black felt. Let dry.

Cut the black felt flush with the bead backing so that it forms a nice oval back for the pendant. Use a black permanent marker to darken the bead backing along the edges of the pendant to match the felt.

Attach a sterling silver open jump ring to the loop piece of the silver-plated pewter star-shaped flower toggle. Attach a jump ring to the bar piece of the toggle.

Cut 21 1/2-inches of Artbeads Designer Jewelry Wire. Attach the wire to the jump ring on the loop piece of the toggle using a sterling 2x2mm crimp tube.

Thread a Ceylon smoke bead and a 5 to 5.5mm light blue rice pearl onto the wire. Repeat this pattern 24 more times. String the following seed beads: a Ceylon smoke bead, three yellow delicas, a Ceylon smoke bead, three yellow delicas, two Ceylon smoke beads, three yellow delicas, a Ceylon smoke bead, three yellow delicas and a Ceylon smoke bead.

Add a jump ring to the loop on the pendant and string the pendant over the seed beads. Make a pattern of pearls on the right side of the necklace that mirrors the pattern on the left side. Attach the bar piece of the toggle to the wire using a crimp tube.
