Tassel Clan Necklace Tutorial

Make the tassels for your necklace on the Beadalon tassel maker. For the smaller tassels, position the bars on the third hole from each end. Wrap the cord in the color of your choice (Cheri used The BeadSmith .8mm emerald Chinese knotting cord) around 27-28 times. Gather the cords together and wrap a 6-inch piece of 18 gauge Silver Artbeads Designer Wire around to cinch it tight, leaving a long tail. Cut the ends of the loops in half to create the tassel and trim to your liking. Repeat for The BeadSmith .8mm neon blue Chinese knotting cord or any other color of your choice.

Tassel Maker Video Tutorial

Position the bars of the tassel maker to the second hole from each end, then wrap The BeadSmith .8mm dark green Chinese knotting cord or a cord in the color of your choice around 62-64 times. Wrap a 6-inch piece of wire around to cinch it tight, leaving a long tail. Cut the ends of the loops in half to create the tassel and trim to your liking.

Slide a TierraCast 8mm antique pewter-plated brass cupola cord end cap over the wire on the smaller green tassel and then add a Czech glass 6x9mm green and cream with Picasso finish faceted roundel bead to the wire (remember, you can use any bead in the colors you prefer). Make a wrapped loop at the top of the bead. Repeat this step with the smaller blue tassel, adding a Czech glass 6mm opaque light blue Picasso finish faceted roundel bead after the end cap and then making a wrapped loop.

Slide a TierraCast 10mm antique pewter-plated brass cupola cord end cap over the wire on the large green tassel and then add a Czech glass 6x9mm blue and green with Picasso finish faceted roundel bead or another bead in the color of your choice. Then, make a wrapped loop at the top of the bead.

Cut a length of Artbeads Designer Wire approximately six inches long. Make a wrapped loop on one end. Add a 6mm opaque light blue bead to the wire, followed by a 5x7mm sea green and pink with Picasso and luster finish roundel bead. Slide the small green tassel onto the wire, followed by two 5x7mm sea green beads, the large green tassel, two 5x7mm sea green beads, the small blue tassel and a 5x7mm sea green bead. Attach the TierraCast antique silver-plated pewter round alphabet C charm to a 1-inch length of 925/10 silver-filled oval rolo chain using a sterling silver 4.60mm open jump ring, then add this dangle onto the wire using another jump ring. Add a 6x9mm green and cream bead to the wire and then make a wrapped loop on the end.

Add a fire-polished 4mm sky blue opal bead to a 2-inch silver-plated 20 gauge eye pin, followed by a 6x9mm green and cream bead and another blue fire-polished bead. Make a simple loop on the end of the eye pin. This will be called Link A. Continue making links in this fashion, following this guide:

• Link B: One Czech glass 2mm olive Picasso finish faceted roundel bead, one 5x7mm sea green bead, one 6x9mm blue and green bead, one 5x7mm sea green bead and one 2mm olive bead
• Link C: One 2mm olive bead, one 6mm light blue bead and one 2mm olive bead
• Link D: One 2mm olive bead, one 6x9mm blue and green bead and one 2mm olive bead
• Link E: One 2mm olive bead, one 5x7mm sea green bead, one 6mm light blue bead, one 5x7mm sea green bead and one 2mm olive bead
• Link F: One fire-polished blue bead, one 6x9mm green and cream bead and one fire-polished blue bead

Attach a 2-inch piece of chain to the end of your tassel focal using a jump ring. Open up the loop on the end of Link A and attach it to the end of this chain. Close the loop. Construct this side of the necklace with chain and links, following this pattern:

• A 2 1/2-inch section of chain
• Link B
• A 2 1/2-inch section of chain
• Link C
• An 8 3/4-inch section of chain

Attach the 5mm sterling silver split ring to the end of the chain. You don't necessarily need the split ring, as this necklace is long enough to slip over the head. If you want a continuous necklace, make this last chain 16 inches long.

Attach a 2-inch piece of chain to the other end of the tassel focal using a jump ring. Open up the loop on the end of link D and attach it to the end of this chain. Close the loop. Construct this side of the necklace with chain and links, following this pattern:

• A 2 1/2-inch section of chain
• Link E
• A 2 1/2-inch section of chain
• Link F
• An 8 3/4-inch section of chain

Close the necklace using the split ring (again, the split ring is not necessary. If you have chosen not to include it, you will just attach Link F to the other end of the necklace).
