Leather and seed beads make a bold combination in these earrings. Cheri decorated strands of leather from Leather Cord USA with beads from an Artbeads Designer Seed Bead Blend. The leather is easy to work with and the seed beads provide the perfect color palette for her design. Switch up the colors to create your own take on this fun design

Step-by-Step Instructions Expand All Steps

Cut ten 10-inch pieces of Leather Cord USA .5mm light brown round leather. This gives you five pieces for each earring. Knot the end of one piece and thread two inches of beads from the Artbeads Southwest Sunset Designer Blend onto the leather in a random pattern. Then knot the opposite end of this piece of leather. Repeat for all of the strands. Set aside.

Cut four 8-inch pieces of leather. This gives you two pieces for each earring. Knot the end of one piece and thread 1 1/4 inches of beads onto the strand in a random pattern. Now knot the opposite end of this piece of leather. Repeat for the other three strands.

Gather five long strands of leather and two short strands together. Fold them in half and stagger the ends to balance out the beads. Then, open a sterling silver 5.85mm open jump ring and position it in the center of the fold of leather. Close the jump ring.

Cut a 6-inch piece of Artbeads Designer Wire in Silver and wrap it around the bunch of leather, just below the fold, to secure. Trim the ends. Open the loop of the sterling silver .8mm ball end earwire. Attach it to the jump ring at the top of the earring and close the loop. Repeat steps three and four to make the other earring.
