The Knot-A-Bead Tabletop knotter tool from Beadalon is quite easy to use once you get the hang of it.
Color blocks of crystal pearls add a contemporary look to this knotted pearl necklace. Pearl knotting prevents the pearls from rolling away if the strand should break. It's a great style with a practical application.
Remove the #6 Griffin silk from the card and pull it tightly from one end to the other to stretch out the kinks. Tie a knot near the end of the cord.
Pass the needle that comes with the silk through five beads of the same color and size. You may have to test beads as you string them to make sure the cord will pass through the twice. If it won't, then use a bead reamer to enlarge the holes.
Leave a small amount of space after the beads on the cord and tie another knot. Now, string the rest of the beads in sections of 3-5 beads of the same type to create a color block effect.
Use the Knot-A-Bead Tabletop knotter tool from Beadalon to help with knotting between each of the pearls. Drop the end of the strand behind the awl and pull it through the opening on the underside of the tool. Next, tie an overhand knot and drop the bead back behind the awl. Pull up on the cord to snug the knot. Pull the cord through the yoke and apply medium pressure. While still applying pressure to the knot/cord, place your thumb on the button and pull to the left. This releases the knot from the awl.
Slide another bead down the cord and repeat step three to tie another knot. Keep tying knots until all of the beads are knotted. Pass the needle through the very first bead on the strand and tie a knot by hand between the first and second beads. Repeat to knot all of those first beads added. Place a drop of jeweler's cement inside the first and last beads on the strand. Allow to dry, then cut off the extra cord on both ends.
