I love the murky color of the Czech glass rivoli at the center of this pin. The pink seed beads are the perfect complement and I love the splash of color the green TOHOs provide. This pin looks like a yummy treat!
You can use bead embroidery to create a special touch for your looks, like Cheri did with this pin. She added seed beads around a Matubo Czech glass rivoli. Choose your favorite color combination to make something that will accent your ensembles perfectly. You can find more inspiration for creating little embroidery pieces that make your style stand out in this Artbeads Cafe episode.
Cut your bead backing a bit larger than the anticipated finished piece. Our pin is 1 1/4 inches in diameter, so try cutting a piece of bead backing two inches in diameter.
Glue the Matubo 14mm Czech glass Rivoli in pink opal onto the center of the bead backing using 5-minute two-part epoxy. Allow to dry.
Use the TOHO 11/0 bead rounds in PermaFinish matte galvanized pink lilac to create a ring around the Rivoli with the two-seed-bead backstitch. Be sure to use an even number of beads in this ring. Stitch an 11/0 pink bead on top of every other pink bead in this ring to start a peyote stitch bezel around the rivoli. Stitch a TOHO 15/0 bead round in salmon lined crystal AB between each bead in this row to cinch the beads up around the rivoli.
Stitch another ring of 11/0 pink beads around the first ring around the rivoli using the two-seed-bead backstitch again.
For the third ring, make sure your needle is coming out of the bead backing close to the second ring. Add a TOHO 8/0 bead round in semi-glazed lemongrass to the needle, followed by a 15/0 bead. Bring your needle back down through the lemongrass bead and the bead backing. Bring your needle up next to these stacked beads. Repeat to create the third ring around the rivoli.
Trim your bead backing close to the beads, making sure not to cut any threads. Cut another piece of bead backing the same size as the beaded piece. With the lemongrass seed beads, create a brick stitch edge around the bead embroidery to attach this piece of bead backing to the back of your piece.

Nice choice! All or most of the products needed for this project are shown
below with quantities. Sometimes we sell out of components and aren’t able to order more from
the manufacturer (we know, it is very disappointing to us, too). Use the opportunity to mix up
the design and make it yours by substituting similar products or altering the entire color
scheme—it’s up to you!
