Since I wanted to add a tassel to the middle of the bracelet, I reversed the Cellini spiral stitch at the center to create a focal point. I love the colors in this piece, so used the same seed beads for the tassel.
The colors of Canyon Rapids come together in this bracelet. Cheri combined copper, coral, and turquoise seed beads in a mesmerizing Cellini spiral stitch rope. The swirling pattern comes to a point at the center of the bracelet, where she added a fun tassel. You can see more ideas for all kinds of bead stitches in this Artbeads Cafe episode.
Starting, with a length of approximately six feet of thread, start the Cellini spiral stitch. You can watch our tutorial video and refer to our PDF diagram to help get you started with this stitch. Start by stringing the following pattern onto the thread:
Four TOHO 15/0 dark copper bead rounds (Beads A)
Two TOHO 11/0 teal-lined metallic light sapphire bead rounds (Beads B)
Two TOHO 11/0 coral lined amber bead rounds (Beads C)
Two TOHO 11/0 metallic dark copper bead rounds (Beads D)
Two TOHO 8/0 galvanized sweet blush bead rounds (Beads E)
Two 11/0 copper beads (Beads D)
Two 11/0 coral beads (Beads C)
Two 11/0 sapphire beads (Beads B)
Leaving a tail about one foot long, pass your needle through all of the beads again to form a ring. Go through the first four beads again.
Referring to the Cellini Stitch PDF Diagram, continue the stitch. You can start the stitch in the direction you prefer: right to left or left to right. At the mid-point of your bracelet, you will switch directions in the stitch. The images in our Reverse Cellini Spiral Stitch PDF Diagram show the beads going right to left to begin with. We find that it's easier to work up a couple of inches in one direction, create the reverse stitch, and then do a couple inches in this new direction. Then you can add more length to each side as needed, keeping the point at the switch centered on your rope. Refer to our Reverse Cellini Spiral Stitch Diagram to learn how to make the switch, or watch our video tutorial.
To make the switch and reverse your Cellini spiral, make sure your thread is coming out of second to last dark copper 11/0 bead in the previous row, as shown in the PDF diagram and in the image below. This is where you would typically "step up" in the stitch. Instead, add an 11/0 dark copper bead to the thread and go through the last 11/0 dark copper bead in the previous row and through the corresponding coral bead in the row below.
Bring your thread through the dark copper 11/0 bead above the coral bead you just went through. This would be your normal step up bead, but this time the needle is going through it in the opposite direction.
Add a dark copper 11/0 bead to the thread and then go back through the other dark copper bead you just added.
Pull the thread tight so the beads cinch up and start to create the new direction for the stitch.
Continue the Cellini spiral stitch in this new direction.
Stitch the ends of your rope so that the bracelet will be the desired length. Our rope measures 6 1/4 inches, with 1/4-inch of 15/0 rows on either end for placing into end caps. The wrist size of the finished bracelet is size 7. It measures 8 1/2 inches long with the end caps, jump rings, and clasps attached.
Add approximately 1/4-inch of rows of just 15/0 beads to each end of the rope. Tie off and secure the threads on each end.
Apply 5-minute two-part epoxy to the inside of the JBB 10mm antique copper-plated brass leaves swivel end caps and insert them onto the ends of the spiral rope. Allow to dry.
Add the 15x8mm antique copper-plated trigger clasp to one end of the bracelet using a TierraCast medium oval copper open jump ring. Attach the TierraCast solid copper open round jump ring to the other end using another oval jump ring.
Knot a thread to the loop of a 2-inch antique copper-plated 20 gauge eye pin. String four copper 15/0 beads, one turquoise 11/0 beads, four coral 11/0 beads, one turquoise 11/0 beads, one 8/0 blush bead, and one 15/0 copper bead onto the thread. Skipping the last bead added, thread the needle back through all of the other beads and cinch them up to the eye pin. Tie a half knot to the loop. Repeat to make approximately 11 beaded strands. Tie off the threads and then slide the Nunn Design 6mm antique copper-plated pewter daisy bead cap onto the eye pin, followed by an 8/0 blush bead. Make a simple loop at the top of the bead.
Add a new thread to the "V" at the center of your bracelet, where the stitch reverses. Stitch the loop at the top of your tassel dangle to the bracelet with this new thread to attach it to the bracelet.

Step-by-Step Instructions
