When Katie started working with the high-quality and always luxurious 24 Karat gold seed beads we offer, she knew she wanted to make something unforgettable. She used Cheri's Alexandria bracelet as inspiration for this netted bracelet. The golden beads shine beautifully throughout the piece. With a clever use of the Dot Stitch, Katie also created a fun closure for her bracelet. Take a look at our instructions for the Alexandria bracelet to see step-by-step pictures of the netted technique for this bracelet.
Cut a length of thread that is easy to work with. Thread on a needle, and then add a stopper bead, leaving a 12-inch tail. Using five TOHO 11/0 24K gold-plated triangle seed beads, start a row of square stitch. Continue the square stitch with 10 rows of five TOHO 1.5mm 24K gold-plated cube seed beads. We reinforced the rows only when necessary to even out the beads (this leaves more room for weaving thread when adding the clasp and netting). Then, make a final row of five Triangle beads. Repeat this step so that you have two strips of square stitch. These will be the ends of your bracelet.
Repeat this pattern four times and finish with three green Hex beads, one gold Triangle, one green Bugle, one gold Triangle, and three green Hex beads (our finished bracelet fits a 5 1/2-inch wrist size. You may need to lengthen the pattern for a longer bracelet. You can also add more rows to your square stitch strips for extra length). Remember, our Alexandria bracelet instructions includes step-by-step pictures for how the beaded netting is created for a piece like this.
After we made all of the loops around the core, we added one gold Triangle bead to the thread and passed through the core again so that both tail ends of the thread were at the same end of the bead. The bead will be a little loose at this point. Add one gold cube bead to your thread and attach the bead to the square stitch strip at one end of your bracelet, three beads over from the edge of the bracelet in the last row. Weave through the square stitch and come back up to the right of the bead you just added. Add one more gold cube bead and go back through your beaded bead. Continue weaving the ends of the thread into the square stitch and back through the bead, stiffening the bead and connecting it to the square stitch. As you're weaving this first tail, make sure to leave room for weaving in the second tail. Repeat with the other tail on the beaded bead. Repeat this entire step to make the other Dot Stitch bead and connect it to the same end of your bracelet on the other edge.
Nice choice! All or most of the products needed for this project are shown below with quantities. Sometimes we sell out of components and aren’t able to order more from the manufacturer (we know, it is very disappointing to us, too). Use the opportunity to mix up the design and make it yours by substituting similar products or altering the entire color scheme—it’s up to you!
