Start by cutting nine strands of the Lovely Knots 1mm ivory Chinese knotting cord approximately three feet long each. Then cut five strands of the Lovely Knots 1mm black Chinese knotting cord three feet long each and two strands of the Lovely Knots 1mm light chocolate Chinese knotting cord three feet long each.
Begin setting up your Kumihimo project. You will be working with 16 strands instead of eight. You will separate the strands out into eight groups with two strands each. Refer to the Big City Kitty Diagram PDF to know how to position your cord. Once your strands are placed correctly, you can begin braiding. Braiding with 16 strands follows the same technique as braiding with eight. You start with the strands at position 16 and work counter clockwise from there.
Braid until your bracelet is long enough for your wrist when folded over. Remember that attaching the clasp takes away approximately 1 1/2 inches of length from the bracelet. Also remember to stretch the braid before cutting as much as you can to see if that will affect the length.
Glue the ends of your braid into the slot of the antique copper-plated round hook clasp set and allow to dry. You can now loop the fold of the braid around the clasp hook.

Nice choice! All or most of the products needed for this project are shown
below with quantities. Sometimes we sell out of components and aren’t able to order more from
the manufacturer (we know, it is very disappointing to us, too). Use the opportunity to mix up
the design and make it yours by substituting similar products or altering the entire color
scheme—it’s up to you!
