Red aventurine is essentially quartz with minerals that naturally provide its color. The orange and brown tones in aventurine are attributed to the inclusion of hematite or goethite. The minerals can also add a shimmering or glistening effect. In fact, this gemstone gets its name from aventurine glass (also known as goldstone) that is thought to have happened at first by chance when sparkling metal pieces ended up in clear glass. This gemstone is thought to be lucky.
