Pyrite, also known as "Fool's Gold," is a shiny metallic gold mineral popular in jewelry since ancient times. It is sometimes mistaken for actual gold because of the similar color and shine. Pyrite is the gemstone used in marcasite jewelry, which was especially popular during the Victorian era.
