Pearls: Coin Pearl
Coin pearls are known for their coin shape and are somewhat flat, sort of like buttons. They’re usually 10-12mm in diameter and come in a large range of colors. Coin pearls are mostly cultured pearls farmed in China freshwater mussels where farmers will insert flat round nucleuses made of shell to help the mussel form the coin shape. This is sometimes a year long process before the pearl is ready.
