This necklace combines the trendy look of multiple layers and dainty charms with the idea of a birthstone necklace for mom.

This multi-strand necklace features TierraCast alphabet charms that represent initials of siblings and crystal bicones in birthstone colors to go with each initial. This idea would make a great Mother's Day gift and is sure to add a personal touch to style. Learn how to make it right here

Step-by-Step Instructions Expand All Steps

Cut a 15-inch length of the 2.5x3.5mm silver-plated square wire cable chain, then cut an 18-inch length of the same chain. Cut a 16 1/2-inch length of the 2.5x3.5mm antique silver-plated square wire cable chain.

Slide the TierraCast antique silver-plated pewter round alphabet D charm onto the 15-inch chain. Attach the end of the chain to the top loop of the TierraCast antique silver 3 to 1 heart link using a TierraCast silver-plated brass small oval open jump ring. Attach the other end of the chain to the first loop on another heart link using an oval jump ring.

Slide the TierraCast antique silver-plated pewter round alphabet M charm onto the 16 1/2-inch chain. Attach the ends of the chain to the middle loops of the heart links using an oval jump ring for each. Slide the TierraCast antique silver-plated pewter round alphabet A charm onto the 18-inch chain. Attach the ends of the chain to the last loops of the heart links using an oval jump ring for each end.

Slide a 4mm faceted bicone in Sapphire onto a 2-inch 24 gauge sterling silver head pin, then make a wrapped loop at the top of the bead. Add it to the 15-inch chain next to the D charm using a 925/10 silver-filled 5mm 20 gauge open jump ring. Repeat this step using a 4mm Amethyst bicone and add it to the 16 1/2-inch chain. Repeat once more using a 4mm Peridot bicone and add it to the 18-inch chain.

Use two oval jump rings to add the bar component of the TierraCast antique silver classic clasp set to one end of the necklace. Use one oval jump ring to add the loop component of the clasp set to the other end of the necklace.
