Here I used Forget-Me-Not Flower Beads as floral embellishments by turning them on their sides.
The herringbone stitch makes a beautiful backdrop for Czech glass Forget-Me-Not flower beads. This fun beaded look offers the chance to create custom pendants in a variety of colors to suit your style. Learn the technique below and make your own
When you get to the end of the first row, the tails of the threads will be coming out of the bottom of the beads at both ends of the row. Flip the row so that the threads are exiting from the top of the beads.
The next row will begin the herringbone stitch. Follow this pattern:
Add two cherry cola Delicas to the thread and bring the needle down through the second to the last bead in row one, as shown in the PDF. These two new beads will sit on top of the two beads below in row one. They will make a V shape as you pull the thread. Then bring the needle up through the bead to the left.
Add two cherry cola Delicas to the thread and bring the needle down through the fourth seed bead in row one.
Come up through the next bead over, add two Miyuki 11/0 opaque matte lilac Delica seed beads to the thread, then go down through the next bead over in row 1.
Come up through the next bead over, add two cherry cola Delicas, and go down through the next bead over in row 1.
Come up through the next bead over, add two cherry cola Delicas, and go down through the next bead over in row 1.
Come up through the next bead over, add two lilac Delicas, and go down through the next bead over in row 1.
Come up through the next bead over, add two cherry cola Delicas, and go down through the next bead over in row 1.
Come up through the next bead over, add two cherry cola Delicas, and go down through the next bead over in row 1.
Keep adding rows of herringbone with the same pattern until your pendant is the desired length. We created 26 full rows for our pendant. Add thread as needed.
To make the increased edge, follow our Delia Diagram PDF, along with these steps:
Pick up one cherry cola Delica (bead 1) at the start of the next row instead of two and stitch it into the next two beads across the row as usual. Come up through the third bead over and continue the usual herringbone stitch until you get to the last two beads in the previous row.
Pick up one cherry cola Delica (bead 14) and go down through the last bead in the previous row.
Come around the last bead and through bead 14, then back down through the second to last bead in the previous row. Go up through the next bead in the row and up through bead 13. Add a cherry cola Delica (bead 15) to the thread and go down through bead 12. Continue the usual herringbone stitch to add beads 16-23 until you reach the last three beads in the previous row and your thread is coming up through bead 3.
Add a cherry cola Delica to the thread (bead 24) and go down through bead 2.
Come up and around bead 2 and through bead 24, then down through bead 3 and up through bead 4. Go up through bead 23. Add a lilac Delica (bead 25) and go down through bead 22. Continue the usual herringbone stitch to add beads 26-29until your thread is coming up out of bead 17. Add a lilac Delica (bead 30) to the thread and go down through bead 16.
Come around bead 16 and through bead 30 again. Go down through bead 17 and up through bead 18. Then go up through bead 29. Add two cherry cola Delicas to the thread (beads 31 and 32) and go down through bead 28. Go up through bead 27, add two cherry cola Delicas to the thread (beads 33 and 34), and go down through bead 26.
Come around bead 26 and up through bead 34. Add a cherry cola Delica (bead 35) and come back down through bead 33. Go up through bead 32 and add a cherry cola Delica (bead 36). Go down through bead 31.
Come around bead 31 and back through bead 36. Add three cherry cola Delicas (beads 37-39) and go through bead 35.
Using your existing thread or starting a new one, sew Czech glass 5mm Forget-Me-Not flower beads in crystal sunset, alabaster lilac luster, metallic copper, and pink alabaster travertine onto the surface of the pendant. We sewed our flowers onto the stripes in the center of the bead pattern. When your thread is positioned how you want it, add a flower bead and a Miyuki 11/0 round seed bead in Duracoat galvanize dark berry. Go back down through the flower bead and into the bead pattern to stitch in place. Repeat for all flower beads added.
Stitch a 4.5mm antique copper-plated 21 gauge open jump ring onto each corner of the top of the pendant.
Cut a length of copper fine round cable chain and antique copper drawn cable chain approximately 12 inches long each. Attach them to one of the jump rings on one side of your pendant. Attach a 9x5mm antique copper-plated trigger clasp to the ends of the chains using a jump ring. Repeat this step on the other side of the necklace, only attaching a jump ring to the ends of these chain lengths.

Nice choice! All or most of the products needed for this project are shown
below with quantities. Sometimes we sell out of components and aren’t able to order more from
the manufacturer (we know, it is very disappointing to us, too). Use the opportunity to mix up
the design and make it yours by substituting similar products or altering the entire color
scheme—it’s up to you!
