Colors of a tropical sea come together in this simple yet playful necklace design. This design is a great idea for using up any leftover beads you may have. You'll love coming up with cool color palettes that speak to you. Learn how Cheri created her color palette and then dream up your own version of this necklace
Please Note: Our designer Cheri used one of our recent Gift with Purchase bead mixes to create this necklace. Cheri separated the free Czech glass beads into separate color palettes. One color palette features purple, green and blue; the other color palette features yellow, pink and orange.
Then, Cheri added in even more beads for each separate color palette. She used crystal beads and more Czech glass beads.
She made the necklace in these instructions with the purple, green and blue beads, but she has another color palette for an entirely different creation. You can create your own color palette with any beads you may have on hand, whether they were gifts from us or if they are leftovers from other projects
We used Super-Lon bead cord in a teal green color and a size E 4-3.5mm crochet hook to complete this design. Do not cut the bead cord from the spool; rather, work on the spool when threading beads. Apply super glue to the end of the cord and allow to dry. Then, cut the cord at an angle and thread all of the required beads onto the cord. We used a mix of random Czech glass beads that we gave away with orders recently, along with 8mm faceted rounds in Blue Zircon, 6mm XILION bicones in Amethyst, Czech glass 3x5mm periwinkle with copper finish faceted roundel beads, 5x4mm olivine/white core roundel beads, and Czech glass 6mm faceted roundel beads. String them on in a random fashion that appeals to you. It doesn't hurt to string more than necessary, because when you cut your cord, you can always remove the beads you don't need. You can also add beads at that point if you need to.
Nice choice! All or most of the products needed for this project are shown below with quantities. Sometimes we sell out of components and aren’t able to order more from the manufacturer (we know, it is very disappointing to us, too). Use the opportunity to mix up the design and make it yours by substituting similar products or altering the entire color scheme—it’s up to you!
