Designer Favorites – Birds in Jewelry
TierraCast offers amazing pewter jewelry components, including a lovely Botanical Birds collection perfect for spring and summer. Designed in collaboration with renowned jewelry artist Jill MacKay, the collection tells a whimsical story of two birds trying to build a nest for their family. This adorable and highly detailed collection features wonderful designs of cheerful birds and leafy branches.
Our jewelry designers have many favorite themes they love to explore when making jewelry and birds are a special favorite. In honor of TierraCast’s new collection, we’re taking a look at some of our designers’ bird-themed jewelry, as well as sharing some of our favorite bird items.
Cynthia’s Favorite Animal – Birds
Cynthia has loved birds ever since she was little! She comes from New Caledonia, a tropical island just east of Australia, so she’s used to being surrounded by beautiful birds. The pendant in her Bird on a Wire necklace reminds her of some of the cartoons she used to watch as a kid in New Caledonia.
Cynthia loves adding birds to her jewelry designs, so she uses them whenever she can. In these two pieces, she used bird items from Gardanne Beads. Her Lovebird earrings feature two pink enamel birds flying toward Kabela filigree dangles, as if they were glamorous nests. The Canary Flight necklace incorporates a yellow Gardanne Beads sparrow along with a matching wing pendant. Nestled among golden leaf chain, these feathered focal pieces really soar.
Cynthia’s bird jewelry is often highly elegant, but birds can be used in more casual styles, too. She created a cool choker that paired a patina bird with colorful gemstones in her Flying Over Paradise necklace. Her Robin’s Meadow bracelet set showcases a TierraCast bird charm on one of the bracelets. The fun Czech glass, cotton cord, and leather in all three designs make these bracelets the perfect stacking bracelets for spring and summer.
Cheri’s Sweet Bird Creations
Our jewelry designer Cheri is also often enamored with the style of birds. When she looks at them, she can’t help but smile. Making jewelry with birds always makes her happy. She fell in love with the bead at the center of her Happy Bluebird necklace, and paired it with gleaming Rivolis and vibrant silk ribbon for an absolutely joyous design.
Speaking of bluebirds, Cheri was yet again inspired by this feathered friend with her Hello Bluebird brick stitch creation. The TOHO Treasure seed beads she used in this piece are the perfect color for bluebird feathers. We can see this cutie flying right into our style.
Cheri also loves the woodland charm of owls and uses them often in her jewelry designs. She created these pins out of Artbeads Designer Wire and even dangled a Czech glass owl bead from one of them. He makes a cute accent to any ensemble. Cheri likes to add him to her scarves in the fall.
